Magill's Founded in 1981

Magill’s World of Ice Cream was founded in 1981 by Bob & Margaret Magill in Lakewood, Colorado. Bob & Margaret had a history in the ice cream business and wanted to follow their dream and move to Colorado to open and operate their own ice cream shop. They operated Magill’s for 17 years and then retired and sold the family business. 

 

In keeping the business as a family run establishment, they sold to the Fehr family in 1998 who operated Magill’s until 2003. In 2003 Tom Kinney purchased Magill’s from the Fehr’s as an employee who had worked for the business for 5 years. Tom was an ice cream maker, customer service ice cream scooper and began to run the production and wholesale business and jumped at the chance of ownership. Tom was 20 years old when he purchased Magill’s and finished out his degree at Metro State University while operating Magill’s. He graduated in 2005 and dove headfirst into Magill’s. Magill’s did a full expansion of customer seating and opened our commercial production creamery on site where we still make ice cream every day. Tom’s goal and mission for Magill’s was to provide everyone in the community the opportunity to enjoy our ice cream and location as a part of bringing families together. Tom was born and raised in Lakewood and has always loved the community and wants to make Magill’s a staple for everyone. Magill’s continues to grow and serve the Denver metro area with our location and with our wholesale business. In 2009 Tom married Jennifer, who has a love for both ice cream (Chocolate is her favorite) and marketing. Jennifer immediately jumped in to help and to sample ice cream and her mission was to continue to reach and serve our customers. Jennifer does all the marketing, special events, donations and charities along with a long list of jobs that come up as an entrepreneur and small business owner. Magill’s is excited to not only serve our Lakewood community but not across the metro area, front range and mountain communities with our homemade ice cream. Our goal at Magill’s is to craft exceptional, homemade ice cream of the highest quality, while delivering incredible customer service to serve our community and bring families together to create lasting memories.
